The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered a massive administrative reshuffle. The commission issued a directive for the immediate transfer and posting of 13 senior IAS officers to the ranks of DMs and DEOs. The administrative overhaul sees new District Magistrates appointed to key districts, including Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Malda, Murshidabad, and Nadia. Jitin Yadav (2016) has been posted as DM-cum-DEO of Coochbehar, while R Arjun (2010) takes charge of Murshidabad.
In the capital, Smita Pandey (2005) has been appointed as the Municipal Commissioner of KMC and DEO for North Kolkata, and Randhir Kumar (2006) will handle South Kolkata. The ECI has stipulated that all 13 IAS officers must submit their joining compliance reports by 3:00 PM on March 19.
